James A. DeVita Esq.

James A. DeVita has been a practicing attorney in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area for over 37 years. Mr. DeVita is a very experienced attorney with a great depth of knowledge in a wide variety of legal specialties.

In the early part of his career as an attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice and the District of Columbia Attorney General’s Office, Mr. DeVita handled a wide variety of federal and state litigation including employment discrimination cases , medical malpractice cases, serious auto accidents involving death and paralysis, slip and fall cases and police brutality, and false arrest cases in the District of Columbia Superior Court, and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.

As a solo practitioner and as an associate with other law firms, Mr. DeVita has handled cases in all state and federal courts in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia in cases involving divorce, criminal and traffic matters, bankruptcy, immigration, employment and personal injury cases. He has appeared in and regularly practices in Arlington County, Alexandria City, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, Prince William County, Stafford County, Spotsylvania County, Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, and the District of Columbia.

He is a member of and practices in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the U.S. District for the District of Maryland, the U.S. District Court for Maryland, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth District, the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.

He is a member of and practices in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the District of Maryland and the District of Columbia

He is also a member of and practices in the Arlington Immigration Court, the Baltimore Immigration Court, and Board of Immigration Appeals.
